PREPARING YOUR APPLICATION

To make an application to the WHP, you must meet the criteria and be admissible to qualify for entry to Canada. You may not know at the time of lodging your application, if you are admissible to Canada or not and your application may or may not therefore proceed to issuance.

To make an application to the WHP you must:

  1. Download and carefully complete all sections of the application form.

  2. Attach the current Program Participation Fee in the correct format.

  3. Attach a clear photocopy of the information page of your New Zealand passport, ensuring the photo and signature are visible. Your passport must be valid for the entire period of your intended stay in Canada. If your passport has a validity of less than 24 months you must state on the photocopy of your passport that you intend to leave Canada before the expiry of your passport and sign to confirm this. Do not send your actual passport. Please ensure your passport is signed before photocopying.

  4. Attach two passport-sized photographs of yourself to your application

  5. Complete any extra requirements that apply to you. If you have ever committed, been arrested or charged with any criminal offence in any country, you need to complete the requirements outlined in the Criminality section. If you have a medical condition, or if you wish to work in the restricted occupations of child care, primary or secondary school teaching, or health services, you need to complete the requirements outlined in the Medical section.

Incomplete or incorrect applications will be returned to you unprocessed.
