  Working Holiday Program

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the official Government of Canada website for the International Experience Canada - Working Holiday Program (IEC - WHP) for New Zealand passport holders. This website will provide you with the information you will need to make your application to the High Commission of Canada in Wellington.

The Working Holiday Program (WHP) is part of an exchange agreement between New Zealand and Canada through which their citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 can have a travel, work and life experience in another country. The WHP Canada provides a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for young New Zealanders to enjoy an extended holiday in Canada while undertaking temporary casual work to supplement their holiday funds.

A limited number of open Work Permits are offered every year to eligible applicants, issued on a first-come, first-served basis. You must also qualify for admission to Canada under the Immigration Act and Regulations, and this is discussed further in the section titled 'Admissibility'.
