SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION

If issued, your Letter of Introduction will be sent to you by email. The receipt of your Program Participation Fee (PPF) will be attached to the bottom of the email.

Do not book/pay for any travel to Canada or make commitments to your prospective employer in Canada (if you have one) until you receive your Letter of Introduction.

Your Letter of Introduction is not your work permit - rather, it identifies to the Canadian port of entry officer that you are eligible to receive a Working Holiday work permit. You will need to print out a copy of the Letter of Introduction (LOI) and carry it with your passport into Canada. When you present your LOI, the port of entry officer has the discretion to grant you up to 12 months on your Working Holiday work permit. NOTE: Work permits can not exceed the validity of your passport. As such, be sure that your passport is valid beyond the period of time you wish to work in Canada.

The Letter of Introduction will be valid for 12 months from its date of issue. It tells you the date by which you can submit it to a port of entry to Canada to receive your work permit.

For example, if you are issued with a LOI on March 1, 2010, you would have to enter Canada before March 1, 2011.

Applicants who have undergone medical examinations

If you have undergone a medical examination with one of our designated doctors and have been issued an LOI, the LOI will not explicitly indicate that you may work in an unrestricted field but the work permit issued to you at the Port of Entry will be an unrestricted one.

Once you receive your Letter of Introduction, processing of your application at the High Commission of Canada in Wellington is complete.

Conditions

Once you have been issued with a Letter of Introduction you are not eligible to participate in any future WHP.

If you have a query regarding your LOI please refer to our FAQ’s

Additional information

Please refer to the Arrival in Canada section for information on what you will require for entry into Canada and the work permit restrictions.
