Description
The liberation tree in Sneek is a maple surrounded by a wrought-iron fencing with maple leaves and a commemorative plaque. The fencing was added to the monument in 1947.

Background
The liberation tree reminds the inhabitants of Sneek of the liberation of their town by the Canadians.

Memorial services
None known.

The maple was planted on 15 April 1946 by the ‘Maple Leaf’ neighborhood association, one year after the liberation of Sneek. The memorial tree was gifted to the municipality of Sneek on 15 April 1947, shortly after a wrought-iron fence was erected around it.
