Description
The Canadians’ tree in Ermelo is a Cleveland Maple (Acer platanoides ‘Cleveland’) with a plaque.

Text on the plaque: ‘Ter gelegenheid van de 50 jarige herdenking van de bevrijding 5 mei 1995

In memory of the 50th anniversary of the liberation May 5th 1995’.

Background
The Canadians’ tree reminds the inhabitants of Ermelo to the liberation in 1945. The tree was planted on 9 May 1995 by Mayor P.Th. Bunjes, Councilman E. van de Beek and a number of Canadian war veterans; the plaque was unveiled by Mr Ellis, a Canadian war veteran, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Liberation.
