Visas and Immigration

Visitor (Temporary Resident) Visas

Citizens of Korea do not need a visitor visa to travel to Canada as tourists. Permission to enter Canada is obtained at the Port of Entry from an immigration officer. If admitted, the officer may permit you to remain in Canada up to six months without additional documentation or medical examination.

If you have a criminal conviction or a communicable disease, you may not be admissible to Canada. If you are not sure about your admissibility, please contact the Immigration section in person during our regular reception hours or send a fax to (82-2) 3783-6114.

You are not permitted to study or work in Canada without the necessary immigration authorization. The exception is for any course of study that does not last longer than six (6) months.
(See Study Permits and Work Permits)

Visitors to Canada must be able to show the immigration officer at the Port of Entry that they can financially support themselves during their stay and that they have the resources to return home at the end of their visit.

Minor children travelling to Canada with one, but not both parents, must carry with them the written permission of the absent parent. Minor children travelling to Canada with friends or relatives, but neither parent, must carry with them the written permission of both parents.

A transit visa is required for travel through Canada to another country by those persons who need a temporary resident visa and whose flight will stop in Canada for less than 48 hours. To obtain a transit visa, in addition to the regular TRV requirements (but no processing fee required), you must provide specific evidence of your travel arrangements from your transportation company or travel agent.

If you are a citizen of a country other than Korea, you may require a visitor visa in order to enter Canada. Please see Visitor Services(www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.html) to find out if you need a visa before entering Canada.
